The next sustainable cities are those that don’t have to resort to a handful of existing systems.
In fact, they should be a mixture of existing technologies and new technologies.
That’s why we’re excited to partner with one of the leading sustainable cities thinkers and technologists, Michael Hirst, to design and build a next generation of cities.
The team at the Centre for the Future of Urban Design and Research (CFUR) has long been a key player in the development of the future of cities, but this time, they’re combining their expertise in sustainable technology with the expertise of one of their own.
Hirst’s work on building sustainable cities began with a seminal paper that examined how the rise of the automobile made it possible to achieve rapid economic growth, but that wasn’t the only factor that contributed to the acceleration of urban development.
Hrist’s research has focused on the way that the automobile has been transforming the landscape, both through the introduction of mass transportation and by the way cities are built and designed.
In other words, the automobile was a powerful catalyst for the evolution of cities as they have evolved.
In this paper, Hirst explores the role that technology can play in delivering sustainable cities, as well as the importance of using new and novel technologies to do so.
Building the next sustainable city will involve a collaboration with a number of organizations including the New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT), the Urban Institute, and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
We’re also partnering with the Center for the Futures of Urbanization, which is a global research institute dedicated to understanding and advancing the future sustainability of urban cities.

But in addition to being energy-neutral, cities also provide opportunities for the human experience.
The future is going to be more sustainable, because we’ll have less people and more people on our planet and less pollution.
What are the key elements of a sustainable city?

• The capacity to manage those resources for a long period of time.
• the ability to have a continuous stream of energy for the city.

In terms of the first, these elements are essential for any city to be successful.
Sustainable cities are more than just a new technology that can be developed.
They are also about connecting people to the natural world, building communities and fostering a sense of belonging, a sense that there is a place for all of us in this new world.
The second key element is the ability of a city to generate and deliver sustainable energy.
A city needs to have the capacity to generate power at a scale that is sustainable, and then be able to store that energy for use in the future.
There are a lot of technologies in use today that are designed to produce electricity.
In some cases, it can be a fairly simple process, and in others, it takes some creativity to make a sustainable solution.
A key innovation that has made cities more sustainable is the use of renewable energy.
There’s a huge market for renewable energy right now, and it’s going to continue to grow, because there are so many opportunities for it.
The next step is going from a sustainable energy system to one that’s built to support a community.

In the United States, solar energy accounts for about 30% of the country’s total energy consumption.
